The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation has begun construction of a new Blue Line extension connecting the city to Kempegowda International Airport. The 38-km stretch will have 17 stations and is expected to be operational by 2027. The project aims to reduce airport commute times by over 60% and relieve traffic congestion. The route will integrate feeder buses and include solar panels at stations. The ₹15,000 crore project is part of India’s broader urban mass transit expansion under the National Infrastructure Pipeline.
